bullet proof coffee recipe

Those that know me know that I love coffee.

When I heard about this crazy phenomenon of ‘bullet proof coffee’ that burns fat and gives you more energy, I was intrigued!  But when I looked at the recipe, I was very, very skeptical.  Oil and butter in my coffee?!  What?!  Gross!  …right?

But when I found out that Bullet Proof Coffee…

Promotes brain function:

That grass-fed butter is FULL of vitamins like K2, Vitamin A, Omega-6 and Omega 3–all excellent for your brain!

Gives you energy:

The high amount of good fats in the coconut oil and grass-fed butter jumpstarts your metabolism, raising your energy levels, helping you burn fat more efficiently!

…and that’s just two of the several benefits of this crazy oily-buttered-up coffee.

…so I decided to give it a try.

As much as it weirded me out to but butter and oil in my coffee.

The results?  A creamy, slightly sweet, latte-like warm drink…delicious!

I even tried a couple different variations, adding stevia and different extracts to make different flavors and was very pleased with the results!

What do you think?  Are you willing to try? 😉

Add your coffee.

If mixing in a jar, use an immersion blender and blend for about a minute until it looks frothy.

(DO NOT try to do this by hand, your coffee will end up separated and greasy!!!)

Vanilla Latte Variation

I like to add half and half to mine…you’ll find that the coconut oil makes it just slightly sweet.

But if you want it sweeter (and to stay on the Trim Healthy Mama plan) add a ‘doonk’ of stevia (or to taste) and a teensy splash of vanilla and/or caramel extract for a vanilla latte-type experience!

What do you think?  Would you be willing to try oil and butter in your coffee?

Have you tried it before?  Do you have any variations on the base recipe you enjoy?
